Phillip Schofield
June 2007

Phillip answers some of our questions from the forum members:

Question: Do you have any charities that you are close to your heart? Perhaps the forum could help with some fund raising! (Sharon)
Phillip's Answer: I've got close connections to diabetic charities because both my mum and brother are diabetic, I'm patron of loads of charities mostly children's and also the Chase children's hospice. I'm also very proud of my association with The Prince's Trust.

Question: Do you have any regrets? (Georgie)
Phillip's Answer: Probably that I didn't learn to fly! No time now, but I know i'd love it.

Question: If you had a time machine, where and when would you go to? (Karen)
Phillip's Answer: I'd like to stand outside my house in the garden and look back at it through the ages. The centre of it dates back to around 1700. It's seen so much ... I'd love to know what it looked like then.

Question: Would you ever consider taking part in a reality show such as 'I'm a celebrity' (we'd all worry like mad about you if you did ;) )? (janet)
Phillip's Answer: NOPE!!! But I love hosting the 'celeb' spin-off show with Sheree.

Question: What was your favorite all time item/interview/phone in on this morning? (lesley1976)
Phillip's Answer: Hmmmm, tough one, I've got hundreds! Lauren Bacall was fun and feisty (and she nicked the candle from Fern's dressing room that I'd given her for her birthday!)

Question: Where is your favourite place to go on holiday? (Stacey)
Phillip's Answer: Portugal, there is a very special spot there.

Question: What is your favourite TV. show? (madhattertom)
Phillip's Answer: I love I'm a Celeb, the Apprentice, but the only show I can honestly say I've watched every single episode (and been in the audience.. twice...) is Friends, it was a genius show.

Question: Can you remember the first autograph you ever signed? (Lauren)
Phillip's Answer: I was in the office of Shazam! in New Zealand 2 days after the first programme went out. I got a letter asking and I thought it was a wind up!

Question: What would you like to do down the line...if you ever (God forbid) leave This Morning!? Would you like to go on and be an interviewer like Parky, head back to the stage or something entirely different? (cheekysmurf)
Phillip's Answer: Another tough one. I miss the theatre, so that would be a thought. I also loved radio too and it was hard to give that up. Maybe Fern and I will make a pitch for the 5 o'clock show!!

Question: What made you leave New Zealand back in the 80's? Didn't you like it there in the end? (I have friends that have come back saying the life is boring there). (Becky)
Phillip's Answer: NO! I loved it, I'd made great friends and had a brilliant job. My Dad was seriously unwell for a time and we suddenly realised we missed home, so we came back. However I have dual-citizenship and I'm very proud of my Kiwi passport.

Question: I am watching "Any Dream Will Do" where they are picking a new Joseph. Andrew Lloyd Webber comes across as such a scary person to perform infront of and looking at these young guys standing there singing to him I can almost feel how scary it is. He always looks like he isn't very impressed with a performance. Can you remember singing for Andrew for the first time? Was it scary? (Ellen)
Phillip's Answer: I remember every second, it was Friday afternoon after a Going Live meeting, in the Lyric theatre in Hammersmith, in total secrecy. I was petrified, thankfully I couldn't see him because I was on the stage in a spotlight and he was sitting half way up the stalls. He was very kind to me though.

Question: What's the funniest thing you have ever heard said about you? (glitter)
Phillip's Answer: That I was Anne Diamonds toy boy (back in the 80's).

Question: If you had to choose wine or chocolate which one would you choose? (ruth)
Phillip's Answer: Wine, I could easily live without chocolate.

Question: You always seem so cool calm and collected (except of course when you're rolling round the floor in hysterics!!!) Is there anyone you think you'd find intimidating to interview? (kwikchik)
Phillip's Answer: There are people that have un nerved me... I just don't show it! If I had ever met Katharine Hepburn I'd have been pretty close to making an arse of myself.

Question: Do you get yours suits specially made or do you buy them? (eley01)
Phillip's Answer: They are specially made by either Eddie or Chris Kerr (52 Berwick St London). They have done all my suits for all the shows I've presented (DOI, Christmas, This Morning, Soap Awards etc) for the last 5 years!

A BIG thank you to Phillip for taking the time to answer our questions!!!
